Beams, columns, red-iron framing, purlins, moment frames, and stair stringers — fabricated and erected to spec. Commercial, industrial, and residential structural steel work.

04

Mobile Welding

Truck-mounted rig with everything we need to weld on your site: stick, MIG, and oxy-acetylene. Ranch, commercial, or roadside — we come to you.

Handrails, Stairs & Carports

Code-ready handrails and stairwells, custom carports, and the everyday metalwork that finishes a project — fitted to the building, not pulled off a shelf.

07

Heavy Equipment Repair

Cracked buckets, bent frames, broken hitches, busted trailers. We weld up the iron that keeps your operation moving — and we travel with it.

How We Build

From your first call to the last weld — here's the process.

No mystery, no runaround. Here's how a typical metal building project goes with LR Mobile Welding & Contracting.

01

Free estimate & site walkthrough

Call or email with the project details — size, use, location, and timeline. We'll ask the right questions, walk the site if needed, and come back with a straight number. No bots, no bait-and-switch.

02

Design, drawings & permits

We coordinate engineered drawings with the building supplier. You submit for permit with your county. We can walk you through what Comal, Bexar, Hays, Guadalupe, or Kendall County typically requires — and we'll tell you if the site needs anything before the slab goes down.

03

Slab & anchor bolts

We work alongside your concrete contractor to make sure anchor bolts are set correctly to the engineered drawings before the slab cures. If you need a concrete referral in Central Texas, we can usually connect you with someone we've worked with on previous jobs.

04

Steel erection & finish

Our crew handles the steel erection — columns, rafters, purlins, panels, trim, framed openings, doors. We work clean, we work on schedule, and when we leave the site the building is square, plumb, and ready for whatever comes next.

Metal Building FAQs

Questions about steel buildings, barndominiums, and mobile welding.

If you're searching for a metal building contractor near San Antonio, New Braunfels, Canyon Lake, Bulverde, Boerne, Spring Branch, Seguin, Schertz, Cibolo, San Marcos, Austin, or the surrounding Hill Country, start here.

Do you build custom metal buildings near San Antonio?

Yes. LR builds custom metal buildings, steel shops, garages, barns, RV covers, carports, and barndominium shells within a 75-mile radius of Canyon Lake, including Greater San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos, Seguin, Bulverde, Boerne, and the Texas Hill Country.

What types of metal building projects do you take?

Common projects include workshops, equipment barns, hay barns, aircraft hangars, riding arenas, carports, RV covers, red-iron buildings, structural steel additions, and barndominium shells.

Can you handle structural steel and welding on-site?

Yes. We handle structural steel fabrication and erection, plus mobile welding for gates, fencing, trailers, ranch equipment, heavy equipment, handrails, stairs, and repairs that need to be welded where they sit.

What should I include when requesting a metal building quote?

Send the job location, rough building size, intended use, slab status, drawings or sketches if you have them, desired doors or framed openings, and your timeline. Photos of the site help us price the work faster.

How long does it take to build a metal shop or barndominium shell?

Once materials are delivered to your site, most standard shops and barndominiums take 3 to 7 days to erect the steel shell — longer for larger structures or complex layouts. Lead time before that depends on material availability and scheduling. Call us at (512) 965-6429 and we can give you a realistic timeline for your specific project.

Do you pour the concrete slab, or just build the metal building?

Our focus is the structural steel and metal building erection — we don't pour concrete. We work with your concrete contractor to make sure anchor bolts are set correctly to the engineered drawings before the slab cures. If you need a concrete referral in Central Texas, we can usually point you to someone we've worked with.

What sizes of metal buildings can you build?

We work with red-iron engineered buildings up to 60 feet wide and beyond on custom projects. Common spans are 30, 40, 50, and 60 feet wide with lengths from 40 to 200-plus feet depending on use. Whether it's a 24x30 backyard shop or a 60x120 commercial facility, we can put together a package that fits your property and your budget.

Do you provide engineered drawings and permits?

Engineered stamped drawings are typically included with the building package for permit submission. We coordinate with the building supplier on the engineering. You're responsible for pulling the permit with your county or municipality, but we can walk you through what's typically required in Comal, Bexar, Hays, Guadalupe, and Kendall Counties.

How much does a custom metal building cost in Central Texas?

Shell pricing generally runs $25 to $60 per square foot depending on size, span, roof pitch, number of openings, finish options, and site conditions — smaller buildings tend to cost more per square foot than larger ones. A 40x60 steel shop shell, for example, will often land somewhere in the $40,000–$70,000 range depending on specs. Call (512) 965-6429 or send us the details and we'll quote it straight.
